AS CONDIÇÕES METAFÍSICAS DA DISTINÇÃO E UNIÃO ENTRE MENTE E CORPO EM RENÉ DESCARTES

Nesta pesquisa analisaremos as condições metafísicas da distinção e união entre a mente e o corpo em René Descartes, mais especificamente, no  que se refere ao  conteúdo  da Sexta Meditação de sua obra Meditações Metafísicas, sem deixar de utilizar outras obras do filósofo, como  por  exemplo,  Princípios da  Filosofia.  Mostraremos o  processo  argumentativo  que conduziu à distinção da substância mental e da substância corporal e de como Descartes pode defender sua união. Em nossa análise faremos um retrospecto do percurso das cinco meditações anteriores até chegar à sexta. Mente e corpo não se mostrarão necessariamente separados, mesmo que possamos analisá-los deste modo.

In this research we will analyze the metaphysical conditions of the distinction and union between mind and body on René Descartes’s philosophy, more specifically, with regard to the content of the Sixth Meditation of his work Metaphysical Meditation; without forgetting to use other works by the philosopher, as for example, Principles of Philosophy. We will show the argumentative process that led to the distinction of both mental and corporal substance and how Descartes can defend his union. In our analysis we will look back at the path of the previous five meditations until reaching the sixth. Mind and body will not necessarily be separate, even though we can analyze it in this way.
